The Mysterios vs. Judgment Day

Rey and Dominik Mysterio took on Finn Balor and Damian Priest in a No Disqualification match. Rhea Ripley was there to support Judgment Day. For some reason, this was still worked with tags in and out instead of being a wild tornado-style match. It made you forget about the No DQ stipulation at times. This bout had the kind of spots you would expect with three high-flyers and a powerhouse, so it was a fun romp even if the way it was structured didn’t make much sense. Once they stopped caring about tags, they were able to make this more interesting. Edge returned in the middle of the match and took out Balor and Priest, helping the Mysterios score the win in the process. Most of the match was fine, but it felt like Judgment Day needed this win more than the Mysterios. The feud with Edge could have been set up after it was over.

Winners: The Mysterios by pinfall

The Mysterios vs. Judgment Day

Rey and Dominik Mysterio came out to celebrate Rey’s 20th anniversary with WWE properly after a few weeks of videos hyping it up. He spoke about his career and how thankful he is to have been able to do this for so long.Finn Balor and Damian Priest came through the crowd and looked poised to attack as the show went to a break. We returned to see the scheduled tag team match already in progress.Balor had Dominik on defense and whipped him from corner to corner. Rey got a pop when he tagged in, but it didn’t take long for Priest to get the tag and take control using his significant size advantage. This match was given a good amount of time, so all four men had chances to hit their big moves and look good in the process. Rey continued to prove he is still capable of going with the best of any generation.

Rey Mysterio vs. Damian Priest

Following another edition of The Kevin Owens Show with Riddle as his invited guest and Seth Rollins as an uninvited guest, we saw Rey Mysterio take on Damian Priest. The match got started during the break, so we returned to see Mysterio in control as he hit a slingshot splash for a two-count. Priest quickly turned the tables with a punch and several kicks in the corner. Both men used their strengths to their advantage. Priest would have short bursts of offense based on his power, and Mysterio would counter that with his high-flying arsenal. While it’s always fun to watch a living legend like Mysterio do his thing, most of this match felt very paint-by-numbers. It was good, but not memorable. After a few close calls, Priest was able to get the win with his version of a Razor’s Edge.Dominik ended up agreeing to join Judgment Day as long as they stopped attacking his father with a chair after the match. They turned him down and beat him with the chair instead.

Winner: Damian Priest

Back from commercial, Judgment Day insist on a promo before the match.

Damian Priest says Rey Mysterio career is washed, over, and he has nothing left to offer Dominik, just a tired mask and old circus tricks that aren’t even his. He tells Dom to rise with Judgment Day or continue to fall alongside his father. Finn joins in and tells him his daddy can’t protect him.

They have a standoff and then we go to break before the match can begin.

Finn Balor vs. Rey Mysterio

Back from commercial, match in progress, Balor choking Mysterio in the ropes and Priest gets a cheap shot! Whip, uppercut, slide under, duck a lariat, tijeras sends Finn flying to the floor! Back and forth, looking for Three Amigos, into the corner and Balor starts working Rey’s knee over, hanging him in the ropes and such!

Sliding sunset flip to the floor gets Rey back in the game and we go to break!

Back from commercial, jockeying for position in the turnbuckles, Mysterio hits an avalanche Frankensteiner… NOT ENOUGH! Pressing the attack, frog splash… NOBODY HOME! Fighting over the ropes, Finn hosses him in, inverted headlock elbow drop… STILL NO!

1916 escaped, inverted headlock elbow drop connects instead, Balor off the top…

Finn Balor wins by pinfall with Coup de Grace.

Post-match, Dominik comes to help his father and Judgment Day stare him down over it.

Before Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. Finn Balor and Damian Priest could begin, Judgment Day attacked the Mysterios to get an early advantage.

Even though Rey and Dom were able to make a comeback toward the end of the match, the action was dominated by Priest and Balor.

This seems like a random tag match, and it was, but the back-and-forth action we a little more entertaining than a lot of bouts, especially because it ended with the famous Eddie Guerrero chair trick.

As Balor was preparing to hit Rey with a chair while Priest had the referee distracted, Rey dropped to the mat and acted like he was already hit. The ref turned to see this and called for a disqualification.

Usually DQ endings get boos from the crowd, but Rey taking a page out of Latino Heat’s playbook got a big pop from the crowd.

Winners: The Mysterios
